WHY ADEQUATE NUTRITION IS IMPORTANT TO OUR OVERALL HEALTH

Nutrition is basic to human health; at least 45 elements and compounds are recognized as nutrients essential for growth, maintenance, normal organ development, reproduction, resistance to infection and diseases, and the ability of the body to repair damage or injury.
The variety and quality of nutrients determine how fully these functions could be performed. Your health is a reflection of the nutrition the body receives from the moment life begins until the moment life ends. When the body’s nutritional requirement is compromised a great price is paid; resulting in the emergence of various diseases and sicknesses.
Scientific evidence links proper nutrition with disease prevention.
Different food sources contain specific nutrients: when the food source is devoid of its nutrients composition, the body is exposed to a disease as illustrated;
Lets represent a food source as F, its nutrients as X and Disease as D. This implies that
F + X=-D (no disease) and
F –X=D (disease occurs)

Inadequate cellular nutrition exposes the body to:
a) The deficiency diseases like Anaemia, scurvy, Rickets and pellagra
b) Undermines the body‘s immune system.
c) Age-related conditions like osteoporosis (weakness in the bones), arteriosclerosis (hardening of the blood vessel) making our last years full of pain and discomfort.
